For founders serious about building a software or service business

Know exactly what business to build, in 3 months.

Your only user is a friend being nice to you. Building has never been easier. You can have a working product this weekend for the price of a lunch. That's exactly why so many founders spend months building something nobody uses.

How many more months will you put into something nobody asked for?

The Practice is a 3 month, 1:1 program for founders building a software or service-based business. We find a problem people already spend time or money coping with, validate it with the people who have it, and define the MVP to build around it. You finish knowing exactly what business to build: one people have already shown they'll pay for.

We keep going past a yes or no on your idea until there's a business to build: an idea we've validated together, whether it's your original one or a better one, and a clear MVP to build around it.

I've spent 20 years building products. In The Practice I work through the analysis, the decisions, the product definition and the spec with you. You do the legwork. I'm in your corner the whole way.

    Founder's Corner

    How the 3 months work

We work through Founder's Corner, my method in three steps. Every founder starts in a different place, so the pace follows the work.

    01

Find the broken leg problem. We write a one-sentence hypothesis: who has the problem, what's broken, and what they do about it today. If nobody is already spending time or money coping with it, we keep looking.

    02

Validate it. You talk to the people who have the problem. I review your conversation transcripts and tell you what to change in the next one. We look for the workaround they're straining to hold together, because that's what they'll pay to replace.

    03

Define what to build. We turn what you learned into a clear MVP and spec. You leave knowing exactly what to build, who it's for, and why they'll pay for it.

After 3 months, you can keep working with me month to month as you build, launch and grow.

    Who comes here

Already built it and nobody's coming? We'll look at what you have and work out what people would pay for.

The founder who was laid off and is living off savings, counting on this idea. We make sure the next months go into something people want.

The founder building on evenings and weekends after work. We make sure that time goes into the right thing.

The founder with an idea who keeps talking themselves out of it. We find out if it's worth building, or find a version that is.

This is for founders ready to invest in getting it right. If you already have paying customers and you're scaling, this isn't the right fit.

    About me

Hi, I'm Faina. I've spent 20 years building products. I'm good at the part where someone needs to hear the honest thing and there's nobody around to say it, at reading what customers are saying and what they aren't, and at cutting the work that doesn't need to be done.

The Practice is for founders who want that in their corner.

    The Practice in a nutshell

    What's included

    • ●Biweekly 1:1 calls with me
    • ●Async access on Slack between calls, with a reply within 24 hours on weekdays (usually within a few hours)
    • ●Reviews of your customer conversation transcripts, with feedback for the next one
    • ●All current and future guides

    How it works

A 3 month commitment. After that, it's month to month for as long as it's useful.

    My guarantee

You'll finish the 3 months with a clear decision: what business to build and what to build first. If you've come to our calls, done the assignments and had the conversations we planned, and we're still not there, I'll keep working with you for one more month at no cost.

You can do this on your own. But the work will probably take longer.

I know. You've built things before, and you can figure a lot of this out alone.

So why work with me instead?

Because you're too close to your own idea. Even good judgment gets clouded when it's your savings or your evenings on the line.

Because polite feedback is everywhere. Friends say it's great, Reddit says people want it, and none of that tells you whether anyone will pay.

Because time is the expensive part. Building is cheap now. A year of building the wrong thing isn't.

That's what The Practice is for.

    What founders say

I had an idea for a mobile app and decided to just build it without any outside validations or market research. Faina introduced and guided me through the process of validating my idea with users, building an MVP and creating a landing page for my app. It's hard building something alone. With Faina's past experiences and extensive know how, it's like getting an entire team in one person. She is truly a rare gem and I am grateful that she is on my side.

    Outcome

Started with an app he'd built without validating it. Validated the idea with users, built an MVP and launched a landing page.

Faina has helped me tremendously so far. I'm a developer and like to build. Having Faina keeping me focused on what's important, makes sure I'm building the right thing, something people will actually want to buy. She's the best business therapist there is.
